Black outlines have a long history in art: they define, emphasize, and provide contrast. I use black lines in two ways, sometimes spontaneously, drawing random paths that I later fill with color to discover what emerges. Other times, I use them with intention to define form, suggest motion, or add visual weight. This interplay between control and improvisation is deeply gratifying, allowing the work to evolve organically while still guided by design.
